Jakarta (ANTARA) – Bintaro Design District (BDD) will be held again for the fourth time in 2023 with the theme envisioning nature which invites designers to think more about nature and implement it in design.
BDD is an event for designers which aims to connect creative workers in Jakarta with the general public, especially in creative incubators in the Bintaro area.
The curators who are also the initiators of BDD 2023 are Andra Matin (architect), Budi Pradono (architect), Danny Wicaksono (architect), and Hermawan Tanzil (graphic designer). The four of them are activists in the design industry who have great hopes for presenting a variety of ideas that can enrich our perception, especially between humans, design and nature.
“This is a struggle to make the Bintaro area its own sense of design. So, how to think about how everything is neatly designed but also has empathy for the environment, hence the theme envisioning nature “That’s something that is very important for us to be able to appreciate that nature responds to our way of thinking and the collaboration aspect is the most important aspect for us to be able to work together,” said Budi Pradono at the opening press conference of BDD 2023 in Jakarta, Wednesday.
BDD will be held from 8 to 18 November 2023. BDD 2023 covers various fields, from architecture, graphic design, interior design, product design, to other design or creative fields.
BDD 2023 is packaged in various event formats, namely open house, open architecturepublic installation, talk shows, workshops to other interesting programs initiated by participating designers.

Then, there is partner venues at the BDD Center, T-space, Mawi Gallery, and South 78. Then there were a total of 94 participants, there were also 14 talk show. Then there is workshopsof which there are many events on South 78 there are more than 30, so there are every day events between 5 to 10 events,” said Budi.
Meanwhile, Andra Matin said that the theme envisioning nature which was raised in BDD 2023 stems from concerns about human lifestyles which over the last 100 years have mainly exploited nature on a large scale as a resource.
This is done to be able to produce design objects in large quantities with uniform quality.
“This is what makes other curators also interested in inviting more designers to participate in the BDD 2023 program,” said Andra.
Meanwhile, Hermawan Tanzil revealed that there were several interesting participants taking part in the BBD 2023 event, one of which was an 11 year old child named Devan Fagan Artganta.
“Today, there were several interesting participants, one of whom was an 11 year old child who could be interested in playingapply in BDD how does heapply submit an application yourself and write it so that he tries to apply. “So, an 11 year old child who doesn’t have a design background, if his work is special, he can participate,” said Hermawan.
Fagan also said that the reason he joined BDD 2023 was because he liked architecture. Meanwhile, the work he created for the BDD 2023 event, namely puzzle house made of cardboard.
“Idea puzzle house If it is taken, I want to make it less necessary to clear a lot of land. So, a house that doesn’t need to clear a lot of land, so it can be moved wherever we want, the house can be moved, there is communal space. So, the house can roll without the items inside also rolling, the inside remains flat. “It’s like a normal house but doesn’t require clearing land,” said Fagan.
