Melbourne four-piece Parsnips return with new single ‘Turn To Love’.
The band released a pair of stellar seven inches, before following this with 2019 debut album ‘When The Tree Bears Fruit’. Taking time out – y’know, with a pandemic ‘n’ all – Parsnip will release their second LP later this year.
Out on April 26th, the record is trailed by new single ‘Turn To Love’. Opening in a swirling mesh of vocal harmonies, it then crunches down into a zesty ‘Nuggets’ style garage rock workout.
Taking vintage tropes and finding fresh space within them, Parsnip are ever-imaginative – imagine The Raincoats covering a vintage Seeds track and you’ll be close.
Of the song, Paris Rebel Richens says…
“Imagine what the world would be like if everyone stopped for a moment or two every day and fixed their attention on the heart. Everyone really wants is love. This song is a plea, for everything that you do in the outer, the most profound changes must be made within. It is not a weakness, if anything, choosing love is courageous and wise.”
Filmed on the lands of the Wurundjeri People, the video for ‘Turn To Love’ is an eye-catching affair, citing everyone from Art Deco costumes (à la Ziegfeld Follies) to the Oskar Schlemmer Triadic Ballet as influences.
Tune in now.
